The U.P. Yoddhas will begin their Pro Kabaddi Season 9 campaign against Jaipur Pink Panthers on October 7.
The Yoddhas - owned by the GMR Group - will play 11 games in the first half of PKL 9 which will run from October 7 to November 8, while the second half will begin from November 9 onwards up till the PKL 9 final on December 17. As per the schedule, U.P Yoddhas will take on the other 11 teams twice.
The first 41 games of Pro Kabaddi Season 9 will be played at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru between October 7 and October 26. After that, the competition will move to Pune, where matches 42 to 83 will be held at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.
Games 84 to 132 will be played at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad from November 18 to December 10. The venue for the play-offs - scheduled from December 13 to 17 - will be announced later.
The U.P. Yoddhas will again look up to the influential pairing of Pardeep Narwal and captain Nitesh Kumar in the upcoming season, besides last season’s top performers in Surender Gill (189 raid points) and Sumit Sangwan (62 tackle points).
At the Pro Kabaddi Season 9 auctions, the Yoddhas used their Final Bid Match card to re-sign Pardeep Narwal for INR 90 lakhs to fight off competition from Gujarat Giants.
The other notable signings for U.P Yoddhas were Abozar Mohajer Mighani and Nitin Tomar.
While Iranian defender Mighani, nicknamed ‘Smiling Assassin’, will turn out for U.P Yoddhas following spells at Gujarat Giants, Telugu Titans and Bengal Warriors, Nitin Tomar returns to represent the Yoddhas in Pro Kabaddi for the first time since 2017.
