Patna Pirates defeated us the first time we met in ProKabaddi season 6, but now the UP Yoddha squad are all set to serve a sweet platter of revenge with a victory on Sunday night at the Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, Sonepat.

A quick look

Having played three matches so far, we are well aware of our strengths and as we face one of the potential contenders of the title, we surely will put our best foot forward. Our pack of passionate Yoddha, led by Rishank Devadiga – the captain who leads by example – will be hungry to register themselves as one of the strongest in the tournament this season. We look forward to some exemplary running hand touches from Rishank as well as strong performances from Shrikant Jadhav, Jeeva Kumar, Prashanth Kumar Rai and of course, our emerging youngster, Nitesh Kumar.

Their Defenders

Their defenders possess the quality of strong holds, which led them to stop Rishank time and again on Thursday. Their all-rounders, especially, Jawahar, multiplies their defence alongside Jaideep and Vikas Kale. However, Rishank will surely be prepared to not repeat his mistakes this time, while Shrikant will be determined to repeat his skillful show.

Their Raiders

The nucleus of the Pirates’ energy is their captain, Pardeep Narwal, who alone scored 16 of the 43 points they accumulated against us in our previous clash. He finds a perfect partner in Deepak Narwal to back his efforts up while young Manjeet can be a threat as well. However, Nitesh seemed extremely interested in trapping Pardeep and succeeded in three occasions in the same match, and we are confident that we will see a similar performance from our in-house ankle-hold specialist this time as well.

Story so far

We received a tight defeat against Telugu Titans yesterday at Sonepat with the game going either way at different intervals in each half. With our opening win being the only win for us this season, our Yoddha squad would look to brush everything aside and make a comeback into the points table with a win over the 3-time champions.

Head to head:

UP Yoddha 1 – 2 Patna Pirates (1 match tied)
