The Mumbai leg of this ProKabaddi season saw a positive U.P. Yoddha unit and the team would want to carry this momentum as they start their Patna leg against Tamil Thalaivas at the Patliputra Sports Complex on Wednesday.
U.P. have lost two, won one and drawn one game so far. Thailavas, on the other hand, hold the seventh position in the table with two wins and two losses each.
The team will eye for nothing less than a win against the Thailavas but before both the teams take to the mat, we take a look at what’s on offer.
Their raiders
The Thailavas bank on their star raiders – Rahul Chaudhari and Ajay Thakur. Chaudhari, on his good day, can create trouble for any defence unit.
Talking about this match, the ardent Yoddha fans are reminded of our skipper Nitesh Kumar’s brilliant form against the star raider of ProKabaddi. In a single fixture in the previous season, Nitesh had held back Chaudhari to earn the team a much-needed victory. He struck five out of six times in his tackle attempts and all of them were his stunning ankle holds.
On the other hand, Thakur loves to pull off running hand touches, especially on the left corner. With Sumit well in form, Thakur will surely find it tough to sneak his points in that zone.
Their defenders
Seasoned campaigner Manjeet Chhillar is that one defender in the Thalaivas defence whom our raiders will have to take care of. Though he is positioned in the left cover, he comes up on the mat more dominantly than the corners and tends to deceive the raiders with powerful dashes. Shrikant, who likes to go deep in the mat early in his raids, will have to carefully when he pits against Manjeet Chhillar.
Manjeet can also cause trouble to Rishank and Monu, our right raiders, with his strong ankle holds.
It’ll be an interesting battle when our young raiders will cross the touch-line in search of points against Chhillar and Co.
