Three wins on the trot have put U.P. Yoddha seventh on the PKL table and for their fourth victory in a row, the team will meet Gujarat Fortunegiants. Yoddha will start their Kolkata leg against the 8th-placed Gujarat on Monday at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.
Their raiders
The runners-up of the previous season have not had the best of the performances this season. The two main raiders of the side – Rohit Gulia and Sachin Tanwar – are struggling to find form and consistency they had in the previous season. Nonetheless, the two have the experience and skills to turn things into their favour and will be key to Gujarat’s chances.
The biggest assets in our defence are our two corners who keep the mat and scoring line secure with their stupendous show. Captain Nitesh at the right corner has put up back-to-back high-5 performances while Sumit at the left corner currently holds the top spot in the list of most successful defenders this season. Both of them have been brilliant with their ankle holds. Sumit also comes up with blocks and dashes which helps Nitesh further on the right of the mat. Ashu as the right cover is equally effective with his dashes.
Their defenders
Just like their raiding contingent, form and consistency have been major concerns for the Gujarat defence as well. Starting with captain Sunil Kumar to the very famed duo of Ruturaj and Parvesh Bhainswal, all have struggled to fetch points on a regular basis for the team. That is where our in-form raiding pair of Shrikant and Surender win the mental battle. Their morale is boosted by the victories they have brought in the Yoddha camp, our raiders will have an edge against the Gujarat defence line ahead of the battle.
Head to Head
