Gujarat Fortunegiants defeated Nitesh Kumar and Co. 44-19 in their second game of the season. This would mean that U.P. Yoddha will end the Hyderabad leg with no points on the board.

Jasveer Singh made two changes to the side that lost to Bengal. Surender Singh and Sachin Kumar made way for Azad Singh and Sumit. Rishank Devadiga, citing injury concerns, wasn’t available for this fixture as well.

The game started on an even note but Gujarat’s raiders - Rohit Gulia and Sachin Tanwar inflicted early pain. The Yoddha defence saw a lack of communication and synergy on the mat. Nitesh Kumar made multiple connections but there was no follow up or support from others. Even though it was a forgettable outing for our boys, the game’s silver lining was our captain Nitesh Kumar successfully completing 150 tackle points in his ProKabaddi career. Furthermore, he became the fastest defender in ProKabaddi to reach this milestone. ProKabaddi debutant, youngster Sumit Sangwan, opened his account with two tackle points on the left corner.

Gujarat Fortunegiants got better of our Yoddha with consistent raiding and good team composure in defence. Parvesh Bhainswal stole the show with a splendid display filled with strong tackling. The whole team looked like a strong unit.

Our raiders failed to impress on the mat for the second successive time with multiple empty & failed raids. Shrikant Jadhav finally grabbed raid points but they were not enough in helping us close the gap. Our star signing of the season, Monu Goyat is yet to deliver a standout performance, we hope to see a better performance from our Yoddha in the upcoming Mumbai leg.

FULL TIME: 19-44

Our Yoddha will be back on the mat in action against U Mumba on August 31.
