UP Yoddha staged a resounding 42-27 comeback win against Bengaluru Bulls in their Pro Kabaddi Season 8 match at Sheraton Grand, Whitefield in Bengaluru.

The team rode on their defence, scoring 22 tackle points, the most by a side in a single match in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).

Every UP Yoddha raider who scored had at least one tackle point to his name that contributed to this unique record. Shrikant Jadhav top scored with 12 raid points and three tackle points, bringing up his first super 10 of PKL 8.

In the defence department, Gurdeep and Sumit top-scored with four tackle points each, Nitesh Kumar had three tackle points, while Shubham Kumar and Surender Gill pocketed two tackle points each.

UP Yoddha also picked up six super tackles throughout the course of the game with substitute defender Gurdeep accounting for two back-to-back ones.

UP Yoddha, however, started on the backfoot with Pardeep Narwal being sent out almost immediately. However a hat-trick of successful tackles from Sumit equalled the score at five-all.

Bengaluru Bulls raced to a five-point lead at 7-12, reducing UP Yoddha to three men. This time, it was a hat-trick of super tackles, with Surender Gill being a part of all three, that pushed UP Yoddha to a 15-13 lead.

By half time, UP Yoddha were at 19 points without conceding any more to the Bulls while reducing them to a solitary player. Substitute Gurdeep had picked two super tackles while Mohammad Taghi, who came in for Pardeep Narwal, had also picked a point.

The second half started with a Bengaluru Bulls all-out and UP Yoddha extending their lead to 22-14. From here on, the Bulls barely threatened to come close to UP Yoddha.

The teams progressed at one-point increments until Bengaluru Bulls’ substitute raider Bharat pulled off a super raid to reduce the deficit to six points at 29-23.

Down to three men, UP Yoddha unleashed three more super tackles once again to power up to 37-25, with the final super tackle sending Bharat off the mat.

Surender Gill and Shrikant Jadhav raided in tandem to keep the scoreboard ticking while the defenders took out Pawan Sehrawat and a dangerous-looking Dong Geon Lee.

With a successful raid each from Shrikant Jadhav and Surender Gill, the match ended with UP Yoddha bagging a massive 15-point win against third-placed Bengaluru Bulls.

With this win, UP Yoddha shot up to sixth place on the PKL points table with 20 points in eight matches. Bengaluru Bulls remain in third with 28 points.
